Decent fret crowning files, slow delivery

I bought a set of fret crowning files. The files themselves are good quality, they cut nicely and felt comfortable to use, giving a nice, consistent crown to the frets. I was happy with the performance of the tool itself. However, the delivery took a bit longer than I expected, around 10 days to get to me in Texas. It wasn't a huge issue, but something to keep in mind if you're in a hurry. Overall, a solid product, but the shipping could be a little faster.

Excellent finishing oil!

I just used the guitar finishing oil on my latest build and it looks incredible! The application was super smooth, and the depth of color it brought out is just stunning. My guitar has never looked better. I'm so happy with how it turned out. I will definitely be shopping here again for more supplies, and I've already told my friend about it!

Got a workbench mat, it's pretty good

Needed a new workbench mat for my guitar stuff, so I grabbed one from here. It arrived pretty quick, maybe 6 days or so. It's thick and seems durable, keeps my tools from sliding around which is nice. Nothing fancy, just does the job well. Happy with it, honestly.

Great tool, good support

I ordered a notched straight edge and a set of nut files. The ordering process on the website was straightforward, and I received a confirmation email quickly. Shipping took about a week to arrive here in Pennsylvania, which was reasonable for international. The tools themselves are high quality, very solid and precise. I had a question about one of the nut files, and their customer service responded within a day with helpful guidance. The straight edge is perfectly flat, and the nut files cut smoothly. I appreciate the attention to detail in their products.

Reliable for luthier supplies

Another solid order from Crimson Guitars. I picked up some radius gauges and fretwire this time. I've bought tools and wood from them before, and they're always consistent. The gauges are accurate, and the fretwire is high quality. Shipping was about the same as my last order, arriving within a week. It's why I keep coming back for my luthier supplies; I know what to expect.

Thinking of signing up for one of their guitar building courses. Do they ever have any deals or early bird stuff for those?

T Troy Walsh 2 weeks ago
Definitely keep an eye out around seasonal times! They often do early-bird discounts for courses, especially for the summer workshops and stuff. Saw some good ones around Black Friday too.

I got a pretty decent discount on a course last year, I think it was for booking ahead. It's worth checking their newsletter or just the site around holidays.

I saw some discount codes floating around for tools. Can you use more than one at a time if you have a couple?

I Ivy Z. 3 weeks ago
Nah, usually it's one code per order. Most places are like that, keeps people from stacking a bunch of deals.

I tried that once, didn't work. It's pretty standard, only one coupon code at checkout.

What's the return policy like for their luthier tools? Say I order something and it's not quite what I expected.

T Tom V. 1 month ago
I had to return a couple of things once, it was pretty straightforward. Just make sure it's unused and in original packaging. I think you have like 14 days or something.

Returns were easy for me. Just followed the instructions on their site, sent it back, and got my refund. No hassles.

Hey, wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes to get a bespoke guitar from Crimson? Like, after ordering, what's the typical wait time?

R Rosa 2 weeks ago
From what I've heard, custom builds can take a good while. I think they mentioned something like 6-12 months for those really custom jobs. Maybe even more depending on the specs.

Yeah, a friend of mine got one a couple years ago, and I wanna say it was like 8 months start to finish. They're all handmade, so it's not a quick thing.

Thinking about getting one of their guitar building kits. Do they come with good instructions or do you need to be a pro already?

C Chris H. 4 weeks ago
They usually have pretty decent instructions, especially for the kits. Plus, they have their online school and tons of videos that can help guide you through it if you get stuck.

S Steve Y. 3 weeks ago
Yeah, the kits are designed for people to build 'em. They're not just a box of parts. You'll be fine.
